How to share live location on WhatsApp

WhatsApp ‘Live Location’ is the second major feature coming from the instant messaging firm this month after WhatsApp Business app. The new app aims to make it easier for enterprises to communicate with its customers. It also comes with some extra features as compared to the regular WhatsApp app.

How to Share Live Location on Whatsapp

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on Android or iOS.

Step 2: Tap on the ‘Attachment’ icon on the typing space bar.

Step 3: Tap on the ‘Location’ feature.

Step 4: Tap on the “Live Location Share” option.

Step 5: Set up the time frame during which others in individual chat or groups can track you. Three options are available – 15 minutes, 1 hour and 8 hours.

“This end-to-end encrypted feature lets you control who you share with and for how long. You can choose to stop sharing at any time or let the Live Location timer simply expire,” said WhatsApp in the blog post.

It is worth mentioning that while sharing the location, other users in the group will be able to see the rest of the members below the map who have shared their live locations. Multiple users can share their locations at once.

WhatsApp already has a ‘Current Location’ sharing feature but that is a one-time feature and others are not able to track the location of the sender as they move.
