How to Link Aadhaar card to your Mobile number-All operators Step by Step procedure

Hon’ble Supreme Court stated “an effective process has been evolved to ensure identity verification, as well as, the addresses of all mobile phone subscribers for new subscribers,In the near future, and more particularly, within one year from today, a similar verification will be completed, in case of existing subscribers.”




Based on above mentioned details of order, the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) has issued instructions to all operators to verify all existing mobile subscribers (Prepaid & Postpaid) through Aadhaar based E-KYC process on or before 06.Feb.2018,so As per the government directive, linking Aadhaar to your mobile number is mandatory for all existing customers.

Documents required and Steps-

All you need is your Aadhaar card/number and your Mobile,You will be required to complete biometric verification, You will also receive the verification code (OTP) on your Mobile that would be required to complete the process.
Step 1
Visit your nearest Mobile store as per your operator and Provide your Mobile number along with the Adhaar card,Locate your Nearest mobile store from the links below as per your respective operators.

Step 2
The Store operator will provide you a Six or Four Digit verification code on your mobile number,
Step 3
Verify the Code received on your Mobile number and perform the Bio-metric Authentication.
Step 4
Post 24 Hours of completing the Step 1,2, and 3 you will receive a confirmation SMS,Type Y and reply in order to complete the eKYC process.
This entire exercise is free of cost,no charges are required at any Step.

F.A.Q-

1.What is the last date to Link Aadhaar card to Mobile ?
Last date for the same is 6th Feb 2018.
2.What if I don’t link my Mobile with Aadhaar?
In case you don’t complete the process before 6th Feb 18, services on your mobile number might get restricted.
3.I am a Broadband/ Digital TV customer, Do I also have to link my Aadhaar ?
No, this is required only for mobile connections.
4.I am currently in roaming, How do I get my Aadhaar linked ?
Customers in roaming customer need to get the Aadhaar verified in their respective home circle.
5.Will I get any confirmation that my Aadhaar has been linked ?
Yes. You will receive a confirmation SMS within 24 hours.
6.In case of Datacard, how will I receive the OTP for verification ?
OTP will be sent on your registered alternate mobile number.
7.What will happen to my previous details with the operator ?
All previous details will be overwritten with Aadhaar details.
8.I have already given Aadhaar no, as my POI/POA while buying new connection,Why do I have to verify again ?
a) If you have done biometric (given finger prints) along with Aadhaar at the time of taking connection, you do not have to do this activity again.
b) If Aadhaar was given only as an identity or address proof and no biometric was done, please visit your nearest Telenor retailer to complete the process
